Special Needs children And young adults Parents’ support group

Our next meeting will be on

Monday 28th March at 7.30pm

In the Noust at the Picky Centre

This will be an informal meeting for Parents to chat and have a cup of tea or coffee. There may even be some home-bakes and Easter eggs.

It would be nice to have ideas for ways to relax and de-stress which have worked for you and your families. Tell us if you know anyone who you can recommend, or if you can demonstrate anything yourself!

There was an impressive turn-out of parents to the meeting about the new Support for Learning (Scotland) Act. It was good that the views of so many parents were listened to, and it was good to get the chance to let such a large group of professionals know how parents feel. If anyone would like to know more about the act try the Enquire helpline, or the website.

Epilepsy Scotland had an amazing response to their talk on Monday 7th March and there was a strong feeling that they should start up a new support group in Orkney for people who have Epilepsy. Epilepsy is as common as diabetes, but much less talked about. If you would like to know more please contact Beatrice Cook or Mary Miller.
