Welcome to MySpecialChild

MySpecialChild.co.uk is an online Magazine for parents and carers of children with special needs.

Welcome to the April Issue. For parents of children with a disability or special needs inclusive education is a big issue. Although the government supports inclusion a recent OFSTED report into inclusive education demonstrates that there has been no overall decrease in the number of pupils attending segregated special schools in the last five years.

The 2020 campaign was launched on 3rd December 2004 (International Disabled People's Day) and is led by disabled people with the support of many allies. It is a campaign to end the practice of educating children and young people with extra needs in separate, segregated schools, colleges, units or classes by the year 2020.

Instead they want all young people to have the right to learn together in restructured mainstream provision, based on the principles of inclusion, equality and social justice. Visit the 2020 Campaign website for more information.

RacketysSpecial Clothing for Special Children

Racketys is the first company in the UK to produce a range of clothing just for children with special needs. All children like to look and feel good and Racketys have researched their product design extensively to help their lives become less complicated and getting dressed a lot less stressful. They do this by incorporating specially designed fastenings and modifications. For more information visit Racketys Website.

Put Some Bubbles into your Life!!

Bubble ShopThe Bubble Shop was an idea born out of a need to keep three young children entertained. It is one of our favorite shops at MySpecialChild and, although not designed specifically for children with special needs, has provided us with some invaluable products to keep our little boy happy. The Bubble machine is a great sensory product and there are loads of party games it can be used for to include children of all abilities. If you get any time to yourself, they also make bubble products to help us relax and have fun after a stressful day. For more information on the Bubble Shop, just click on the link below.
