Welcome to the December Issue of MySpecialChild. With Christmas getting ever closer peoples mind on probably on what to buy their loved ones. We were busy last week visiting the Disabled Living: Kidz up North 2004 exhibition. It was well worth attending with a diverse range of exhibits, seminars and features. Click here for a list the companies who attended the Exhibition. The highlights of the show included a Fashion show, hosted by Eve Threlkeld (BBC Shopping City and Phoenix Nights), Guests: Tanni Grey-Thompson OBE and Bolton Wanderers Football Club. For those who don't know Tanni Grey-Thompson is Britain's most successful paralympian. So far she has won 15 Paralymic Medals (11 Gold, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze) and has won the London Marathon six times. Tanni has also recently be elected to the Laureus World Sports Academy. From our friends from overseas in Australia. On the 3rd December is International Day of People with a DisAbility. Thousands of individuals and organizations throughout the country are being encouraged to celebrate the day in any way they can. The day is a collaborative effort to celebrate and acknowledge the experience, expertise and contributions of the 3.6 million Australians living with a disAbility. This day originated from the annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons started by the United Nations back in 1992. We currently have two competitions running, the first is the surf watch competition, the winner will be published on Christmas Eve. The second, is an art competition to design a logo for MySpecialChild and also to do some artwork for merchandise, full details will follow shortly. |
